Enhancing CNCAN capabilities in the field of nuclear safeguards activities

• Activity A8.1: Development of a new guide on the obligations of small users of nuclear materials to ensure safeguards control and the physical inventory

Results:

- Guide on the obligations of small users of nuclear materials to ensure safeguards control and the physical inventory

- 4 CNCAN staff members involved in safeguards control activities for the small users of nuclear materials in the material balance area were trained

• Activity A8.2: Development of a procedure for the preparation and submission of the PIL (Physical Inventory Listings) and the MBR (Material Balance Report) in order to ensure that these reports are issued in accordance with the IAEA and EURATOM requirements

Results:

- A procedure for the preparation and submission of the PIL and the MBR in order to ensure that these reports are issued in accordance with the IAEA and EURATOM requirements;

- CNCAN staff and the responsible persons of the small users trained in ensuring safeguards control

• Activity A8.3: Procurement of software for setting up the database enabling real-time verification of nuclear material movements in the WRMZ material balance area and the generation of safeguards reports

Results:

- A database for the real-time tracking of the movement of nuclear materials in the material balance areas and the generation of safeguards reports

- Procurement of one laptop

- 4 CNCAN staff members trained in safeguards control at the small users of nuclear materials in the material balance area
