Enhancing CNCAN capabilities in the field of the regulation of radioactive waste management, spent nuclear fuel management and decommissioning activities

 

  • Activity A7.1: Development of a new regulation (norms) on the predisposal management of radioactive waste

 

Results:

- Norms on the predisposal management of radioactive waste, including safety criteria, criteria for safety assessments and the licensing procedure

- Procurement of one laptop

 

  • Activity A7.2: Development of a methodology for the verification of safety assessments and of other technical documents required in the licensing and inspection process for predisposal management activities.

- The methodology for the verification of safety assessments for the predisposal management of radioactive waste

  • Activity A7.3: Revision of the existing regulation on the disposal of radioactive waste on the basis of the IAEA recommendations, as well as implementation of the reference levels developed by the WENRA working group WGWD.

  • Activity A7.4: Development of a standard review plan describing the detailed criteria and the procedure for assessment and verification by the regulatory authority, as well as development of the checklist for each phase of the lifetime of radioactive waste disposal facilities

  • Activity A7.5: Participation in technical meetings organized by the IAEA

  • Activity A7.7: Development of the methodology for the assessment of the decommissioning plan and of the application for a decommissioning licence

  • Activity A7.8: National workshop on NORM

- The workshop report, containing the gaps identified in the regulations, the stakeholders and their responsibilities
