Classification of permits
• Classification of practice permits
Level 1 practice permit issued by CNCAN to the persons designated by the authorization holder with responsibilities for radiological safety in carrying out activities in the nuclear field involving insignificant radiological risk.
Level 1 practice permit issued, as applicable, by the legally established entity in the process of being authorized, or by the authorization holder, to its own staff, which allows the holders to carry out activities, in the field and speciality for which it was issued, under the supervision of a person holding a level 1, 2 or 3 practice permit issued by CNCAN.
- Level 1 practice permits allow their holders to carry out activities, in the field and speciality for which they were issued, for the authorization holder that issued them or that is mentioned by CNCAN in the practice permit.
Level 2 practice permit issued, as a rule, by CNCAN, at the request of the authorization holder, for staff carrying out activities in the nuclear field involving significant radiological risk, which allows the holders to have responsibilities for radiological safety in the controlled/supervised area or to manage activities with radiation sources or nuclear installations, in the field and speciality for which the permit was issued.
Level 2 practice permit issued by the authorization holder for its own staff carrying out nuclear activities in the authorized field. This type of permit is issued only if the authorization holder is designated by CNCAN as a body for the certification of personnel. In this case, the practice permit may be issued on sub-levels.
- The level 2 practice permit allows its holder to carry out activities, in the field and speciality for which it was issued, for the authorization holder that issued it or that is mentioned by CNCAN in the practice permit.
Level 3 practice permit, by which CNCAN designates radiation protection experts, specialists who have the knowledge and training necessary to provide advice on dose assessment, on achieving effective protection of persons and on the correct use of radiation protection means and equipment.
- The level 3 practice permit is personal and allows nuclear activities to be carried out, in the field and practice for which it was issued, in accordance with the provisions of the law, for any authorization holder.
