On 22 February this year, a delegation led by Mr Rodin Traicu, President of the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN), visited the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (INFLPR).
INFLPR is based in Măgurele and brings together 447 researchers whose work covers research on high-power lasers and photonic materials, nanomaterials and nanotechnologies, the development of information technologies and quantum dots, plasma coating technologies and X-ray microtomography, biophotonics and medical applications of photonics.
The Institute of Space Science (ISS) – a subsidiary of INFLPR – works in the fields of astrophysics, space engineering and gravitation.
The main nuclear activities and practices carried out within INFLPR are
-
Research with a high-power laser in the ionizing radiation production regime (1 PW Laser);
-
Research and development in the field of non-destructive testing with ionizing radiation – the Industrial X-ray Imaging Centre;
-
Research and development with industrial electron accelerators.
