Radioactive mining

CNCAN regulates, licenses and controls the exploration, mining and milling of radioactive ores, as well as the management of the tailings resulting from these activities.

Licensing requirements

Radioactive mining activities may be carried out only on the basis of a licence issued by CNCAN, under the conditions laid down in the Radioactive mining norms.

Protection of workers and the public

Licence holders ensure the monitoring of occupational exposure, the control of effluents and the radiological surveillance of the affected areas, in accordance with the radiation protection requirements.
