Press release – signing of the CNCAN–IAEA Arrangement on cooperation in the field of nuclear safeguards

On 4 September 2026, the President of CNCAN, Mr Cantemir Ciurea-Ercău, signed the Arrangement between the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control and the International Atomic Energy Agency on cooperation within the IAEA Member State Support Programme in the field of nuclear safeguards. On behalf of the IAEA, the document was signed by Mr Massimo Aparo, Deputy Director General, Department of Safeguards.

The signing of this document confirms the commitment to contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of nuclear safeguards through the exchange and dissemination of information, knowledge and expertise, including through assistance in the area of training and institutional capacity building.
